Illuminart Stories in Light in collaboration with First Nations Artists and the Quandong Festival
Quorn Silo Light Show, Flinders Ranges, SA Also screening in Port Pirie and Gladstone
Launching at Quandong Festival 25-26 October in Quorn SA
A powerful celebration of Country, community, and culture, Quandong Dreaming: Bush Tucker Stories in Light brings vivid First Nations storytelling to life through large-scale projections at the iconic Quorn Silos.
Curated by respected cultural leader Lavene Ngatokorua, this ground-breaking project features new digital works from Nukunu, Adnyamathanha, Barngarla and regional artists, exploring the deep significance of bush tucker through a lens of both traditional and contemporary interpretation.
Launched as a headline cultural event at the 2025 Quandong Festival, the exhibition invites locals and visitors alike to gather beneath the night sky to connect with Dreamtime stories, native food knowledge, and community pride—illuminated across one of South Australia’s most recognisable regional landmarks.
From the vibrant art of emerging voices to the wisdom of cultural Elders, each projection pulses with stories of nourishment, resilience and Country. Thanks to partnerships with Umeewarra Media and Flinders Ranges Council, the storytelling will extends beyond the silos, with additional projections in Port Pirie and Gladstone, and radio broadcasts that amplify First Nations voices across the region.
Running nightly for two months, this free and accessible exhibition is more than a display—it’s a sensory invitation to listen deeply, learn respectfully, and see Country in a new light.
This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Festivals Australia program.
This project is a first: a First Nations-curated art exhibition on silo canvases. It’s about giving stories of Country the space and scale they deserve.
