Stories in Light is illuminart’s signature creative practice — delivering temporary and time-limited night-time experiences that bring local stories to life through projection, animation, sound, and immersive media.

These projects are artist-led, place-responsive, and developed through collaboration with communities, cultural partners, and local creatives.

How we work

Stories in Light projects are artist-led, time-limited night-time experiences developed in response to place, purpose, and community context. They are often delivered as signature events, festival features, temporary public art, or touring creative activations.

Depending on the project, illuminart may:

■ lead creative direction and artistic development
■ support story development and cultural consultation
■ create animation, illustration, and digital media
■ design projection and spatial presentation
■ provide technical planning, delivery, and on-site operation
■ support community participation and skill-building pathways

Stories in Light projects are designed to ignite attention, create atmosphere, and foster connection — without requiring permanent infrastructure.

Stories in Light® projects presented in public spaces, festivals, and cultural settings, including building projections and site-specific installations experienced by local audiences at night.

Stories in Light projects are delivered across regional and urban Australia as temporary, artist-led night-time experiences for public spaces, festivals, cultural events, and civic sites.

Each project is shaped aesthetically, culturally, and technically in response to its setting, and may be delivered directly by illuminart or in collaboration with partner artists, producers, and local creative teams.
