Cindi Drennan

Biography

Cindi Drennan is an Australian multimedia artist and the creative force behind illuminart, specialising in projection art with a passion for community engagement. As founder and director of illuminart, Cindi brings extensive experience and enthusiasm to her projects, leading a team that transforms architecture, festivals, and public spaces through innovative audiovisual arts.

Her portfolio includes award-winning projects like Yabarra – Gathering of Light, Quorn Silo Light Show, and the No Boundaries Project.  She has directed groundbreaking works such as Travelling LightThe GeriActivists and Constellation, supported by the Australia Council for the Arts and Create NSW.

Cindi’s background spans over 25 years across filmmaking, illustration, animation, and interactive media. Before establishing illuminart in 2007, she held key roles at Tesseract Research Laboratories, The Electric Canvas, and the Institute for Interactive Multimedia at UTS. She has also contributed to major events like the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and the DOHA opening ceremony. Cindi continues to pioneer new expressions in projection mapping and audiovisual storytelling, making her a standout in the Australian arts scene.

Architectural Projection and Projection arts projects directed by Cindi include Luminous Hall for UWA 2013; award winning No Boundaries Project in 2012; award winning Port Inhabited for Port Festival 2011; RED on Sydney Opera House for World Aids Day 2011; Fractured Heart for ARIAS and VIVID 2011-2012;  The Ribbon for the Regional Centre of Culture program in Murray Bridge SA 2010, and Landed for the National Regional Arts Conference in Launceston, 2010, and Harts Mill Inhabited and Promise in 2009.
