We are thrilled to announce that Quorn Silo Light Show was heralded as the GOLD WINNER in the Best Mega Mural category of the 2022 Australian Street Art Awards. With rigorous judging by tourism leaders from across Australia, plus second-tier auditing and due diligence, Illuminart’s win with Quorn Silo Light Show, in collaboration with Flinders Ranges Council, has the credence of the art tourism sector.
Awards Director Liz Rivers said, “This permanent audio-visual presentation contributes significantly to making Australia a more vibrant, creative and interesting country – somewhere visitors want to explore more keenly.”
In commenting on Quorn Silo Light Show’s win, the judges congratulated everyone involved in creating a unique art tourism attraction that has capitalised on using a disused grain silo. “This is such a special and unique notion that doubles as a great promotional vehicle for the town and region. We really like that the project encourages visitors to purchase take-away dinner from a local business, get comfy and settle in to enjoy a night of Flinders Ranges entertainment,” the judges said.
Flinders Ranges Council are the owner operators of the Quorn Silo Light Show which operates as a free tourism attraction every evening from sunset, since Feb 2020, with stories and digital art exhibition as the nightly content.

Illuminart were involved from the earliest stages of the project assisting the Council to develop concepts and designs, and also presenting a test projection in 2019 to gather community feedback. After a successful funding application, the Council engaged illuminart to design and install the permanent installation and develop the digital content.

The installation features a nightly show of local stories, followed by a showcase of local art and photography. Watch the Quorn Silo begin to glow at sunset and spring to life under the stars, and enjoy this free audiovisual celebration of the Flinders Ranges, the Pichi Richi Railways, local stories and heritage, ecology and the occasional sci-fi!
In 2021, the Quorn Silo Light Show won 2nd prize (Silver) in the Mega Mural category of the 2020 Australian Street Art Awards.
Delightful, well presented display, reminded us of old drive in movies, tuned the radio onto FM station and sat in car. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend doing this.
