Touch of Red images at Sydney Opera House

World AIDS Day – held on 1 December each year – is one of the most globally recognised events of the year, observed by millions in more than 190 countries around the world. It raises awareness across the world and in the community about the issues surrounding HIV/AIDS.

In 2011 the Global Launch of World Aids Day was held in Sydney Australia and launched with a spectacular projection of red light and themed illustrations onto the Sydney Opera House.

The iconic Touch of Red images were designed by Cindi Drennan and the illuminart team to represent the global theme for this World AIDS Day, for no new Mother to Child Aids Transmission by 2015. The abstracted concept of “touch” symbolised the tender and vulnerable connection between a mother and child.
