From the Vault: DRILL at Port Augusta Re-imagines

Let’s jump back to October 2008 – four years ago but that’s a lot of time when you’re busy. Port Augusta Re-imagines was the inaugural South Australian Regional Centre of Culture and the year long program of arts and culture also involved major new infrastructure development of The Barracks, and the new Port Augusta Cultural Centre – Yarta Purtli.

A new dance work was commissioned for the program and it opened the new centre, with a piece incorporating dance choreographed by Libbie Olds (Australian Dance Theatre), music composition by Matthew Timmis, song and voice performance by Desert Voices and projection art by Cindi Drennan ~ Illuminart. The performance featured mapped projection onto giant three dimensional letters as set pieces designed by Jane Fuller. Image sequences for the projection were scripted and designed by Cindi Drennan in response to text and spoken word contributed by the Port Augusta Writers Group. The project was supported by Country Arts SA and Local Stages Initiative.
