I have lived in the Port area for nearly 30 years and look at the port and its community from an illustrators viewpoint. Trained as a textile designer and heavily influenced by the distorted perspective drawings of Escher, I am drawn to this environment and the wealth of stimulation which it offers in terms of creativity. I was employed at Actil Ltd as a designer and for Channel 4 UK in cartoon creation before moving into education.
Inspired by the historical and modern buildings, local characters and community, I created educational resources for local schools; community recycling projects; murals, sign-writing and illustration. Working alongside High School students I created and curated the highly successful Port Youth Arts Festival programme which is now into its third year. I am Deputy Chairman of the Port Community Arts Centre and as such, enjoy being surrounded by this diverse and artistic Port Community and all its opportunities.
