Winter Magic Festival
Civic Place, Katoomba
June 24th-July 9th
Extended for NAIDOC:
Monday to Friday 10am - 4pm,
Sat-Sun 10am-5pm
We’re honoured to present a new animated experience that represents First Nations, ‘The Creation of Pleiades, the Seven Sisters Dreaming Story’. This unique story was one of the features of the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre for Katoomba’s Winter Magic Festival 2023. An invitation to extend the display for NAIDOC means that you can now experience the story up until the 9th of July by first visiting reception.
Experience the story of the Gunyunnggalung, the Gundungurra Nation’s Dream Time in this new and unique stargazing experience.
Narrated and devised by Kathleen Brown, with artworks by Kathleen’s father Thomas Brown, this is a unique story about the enigmatic seven sisters and how the extraordinary Pleiades star system was created.
Produced in association with the Gundungurra Tribal Council Aboriginal Corporation and the Katoomba Winter Magic Festival INC.

The Winter Magic Festival is helping reactivate Katoomba’s local business district and the Blue Mountains arts sector by encouraging locals and tourists to visit and experience what the Mountains have to offer, with a vast range of great food, world famous landmarks and beautiful places to stay. On this magical way to spend a midwinter’s day, alongside the artistic Seven Sisters installation, the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre was alive and buzzing with colourful performances, artisan stalls and conversations with Darug custodian Uncle Lex.
