Karoonda Anzac Digital Stories in Silo Projection

This digital project for the community of Karoonda East Murray served to provide tecognition and acknowledgement of Karoonda District WWI soldiers involvement overseas.  During World War 1, approximately 170 soldiers from the district enlisted and took part in campaigns aligned to around 40 battalions or divisions.
Historians from the area collaborated with illuminart staff, led by Art Director Susanne Wegener, to develop imagery and text that listed the battalions, their roles and destinations, the routes taken and the countries visited for training and battle. The story also detailed local social events prior to departure and welcome home ceremonies.
The projected story is now part of the permanent collection for Karoonda Silo Art and commemorates Anzac each year in the township of Karoonda.
