Old Burchfields Garage on End Street, Deniliquin
Thursday 29th September – Sunday 10th November 2022
Burchfield Garage is one of the oldest buildings on End Street in Deniliquin, having originally been established as a Cobb and Co stage coach station, and the street itself is sited on the ancient home of the Wamba Wamba Perrepa Perrepa traditional owners.
The illuminart team were commissioned to create a unique architectural projection for the site. It’s ‘projection inside projection!’ … As the End Street building is activated with glorious projection onto the Burchfield Garage, which then also frames a projected exhibition inside each of the windows.
The building facade illuminates with a stunning animated sequence that reveals the ancient to modern story of the street and its community, curated from artwork, photographs and press articles. Also featured, is the gorgeous art of Rozlyn White, Yirri Sullivan and Deniliquin High School Year 7 Culture Students alongside the historic imagery composited by the illuminart team.
Complimenting the End Street activations, the windows of the building features an exhibition of artwork by three Deniliquin artists, Cheryl Mahon Howard, Rachel Braybon, Louise Graham.
“Energising End Street Pilot Project – Rebuilding & Reconnecting” : This project is an initiative of Edward River Council proudly funded through NSW State Government Department of Planning and Environment, Streets as Shared Spaces program.
