DRILL dance performance

In 2008 the city at the crossroads of Australia, Port Augusta, hosted South Australia’s first Regional Centre of Culture, a year long celebration of arts and culture. DRILL was an original work commissioned for Port Augusta and supported by Country Arts SA local stages initiative. ADT Associate Director Elizabeth Old directed 42 local dancers, musicians, writers, projection artist and composer plus an artistic team from Adelaide to create DRILL. It was performed at the opening of the Port Augusta Cultural Centre, Yarta Purtli.

This work was initiated by the Local Stages Initiative and produced by Country Arts SA as a major production for the Port Augusta Re-imagines program.

It was the first large regional projection and creative collaboration for experienced projection artist Cindi Drennan, who had previously worked in Sydney and Melbourne before returning to her home in the Flinders Ranges.  Indeed, DRILL brought together several Port Augusta ex pats to work in their home for the first time.
