Cuttlefest Light up the Night

Team illuminart returned to Whyalla on the Eyre Peninsula for two nights of special illuminated delights!

On the 7th of July at the Whyalla Maritime Museum Gardens, a bright and sparkling free program of animated projections on the hull of the HMAS Whyalla took place from 6.30pm to 8pm, as illuminart created an expansive and glowing area that was much larger than a cinema screen.   The dramatic mid-winter show got a great crowd together for a bright colourful and invigorating injection of creativity, combining history, humour and warmth into a single event that celebrated local artwork. The creative stories depicted South Australia’s heritage in a joyful way, by appreciating the beautiful and interesting place in which we live.  The gates opened at 5.30pm, with a bellywarming cafe and food truck on site.  The site offered great accessibility for mobility aids.   Guests brought along chairs, torches, gloves, beanies, scaves and turtle neck jumpers.  Many rugged up with a blanket and there were quite a few onesies to be seen!

On the 8th of July three gorgeous oceanic animal inflatables will be on display as part of the Cuttlefest FREE Salty Sea’esta event. Created by Evelyn Roth, you will find the larger than life cuttlefish, shark and leafy sea dragon illuminated in the Ada Ryan Gardens, Cudmore Terrace, between 3pm and 9pm. There will be family entertainment both onstage and around the gardens. Enjoy a mix of kids entertainment, workshops, market stalls, a variety of food and beverage stalls, Evelyn Roth’s inflatable sea creatures, live performances by local and visiting entertainers, and a FREE bus to get you there and home! – There really is something for everyone to enjoy! Check out the gallery for a sneak peek of these amazing animals!
