Boston Bay Broadcast (Port to Port, Pt Lincoln SA) - illuminart stories in light

Boston Bay Broadcast (Port to Port, Pt Lincoln SA)

Port Lincoln’s grain silos are hard to miss on any day but at the annual Tunarama festival 2016, brilliant moving images, sound and music turned one prominent silo stack into a giant animation screen visible all over town.

Awarding winning projection art specialists, illuminart created a glistening story of Port Lincoln that shone brightly over Boston Bay for five nights.

Commencing with content development workshops led by Creative Producer / Community Artist Cindi Drennan, the project involved many local community members to participate in selecting themes and stories of interest, which were then assembled and animated from local photographs and artworks.

Art Director, Andy Petrusevics, mentored local artists to develop skills in animation, and said it took a team of over a dozen people to put the show together and map it onto the silos which represent so much to the people of the region.  One of the dedicated Eyre Peninsula participants, Susanne Wegener, has since joined illuminart as a member of our audiovisual storytelling team, working on many outstandingly beautiful projects in other parts of the country.

PorttoPortThis project is part of illuminart’s ‘Port to Port’ statewide project, and Port Lincoln’s Boston Bay Broadcast is the first of many digital stories scheduled to connect port towns throughout South Australia with their past, present and future through the exciting portal of projection art.
