Waltz your way… the “Norwood Waltz”

Synchronise your moves to the projection of Stepping into the Light… This is the second dance, based on traditional ballroom dance often danced at weddings and events at the Norwood Concert Hall… although we have taken a few comic liberties!

Choreography by Ade Suharto
Music by Payneham City Concert Band
Animation by Luku Kukuku

Ade Suharto said this, about creating the Waltz sequence for Norwood Concert Hall:

“Dance and movement has filled the spaces in and around the iconic Norwood Concert Hall since the hall’s earliest days.

Grandma still remembers the waltz rhythm and all the flounce (as she puts it), the powder puffs and chivalry of a by-gone time. The dance hall was squirming with bustle and grace with the big, brass band every Saturday night. That’s where she met grandad.

“We floated and glided our waltz across the floor together, never for a moment taking our eyes off one another. I still remember the basic steps now: the box step and underarm turn. 1, 2, 3… 1, 2, 3” grandma recalls.

This is an ode to all those moments.”
