Railway Hotel

The Railway Hotel… built in 1856 by W.Wooldridge – bottle maker, brewer & carpenter. Died in 1857 aged 45. His ghost isn’t here though I am sure some of his hand fashioned bottles are buried under roads and paths around the Port.

Fred (owner of the Railway Hotel) showed me some amazing photos from about 10 years ago when they were doing the pub up. Scaffolding all round the saloon bar… and they kept on trading while working on the place. Having first hand experience of the reno / construction process I fully appreciate what that must have taken!
