Night Mural

Did you ever wonder what you could do to make a plain old building, much more interesting? Well, we are going to trial just that idea by commissioning ten artists to each design a mural… and then show you all of these options on one aweinspiring heartwarming winter evening.

Night Mural will be held on the 17th of August 2013. This public event is a one off event sponsored by illuminart, Mosaic AV, and presented with the support of Port Adelaide Enfield Council and Arts SA. It’s also supported by Community Arts SA through the Say Something 2 project.

The concept of rapid prototyping of mural art is a new illuminart method, designed to highlight the value of ephemeral and lighting art in futurescaping, as well as entertainment! The presentation will feature live interaction with the audience and artists, as our team unfold the many transformative possibilities for this building to a live audience of 500 people, including local residents, families and creative people from around Adelaide, who are invited to bring seats, picnic rugs or cushions to enjoy this one off event.

Our unusual event will be partially funded through crowdfunding, with rewards and ticket sales providing benefits including DVDs featuring unreleased Port Adelaide illuminart documentary material, souvenir granny blankets, and warming gifts. Our crowdfund pledgers will also have access to pre-arranged seating and other rewards.

Our event is planned for the 17th of August, when its dark from about 5:30 – to ensure that ambient light will be low and the projection at its very brightest. Although the thought of a winter event may put some people off, its designed to bring the hearty out for a great artventure, to discover a very sociable nightscape down by the Port wharf and participation in a very novel event. And we have very sensibly outlined a plan B date of 24th of August as the wet weather alternative, so if it does all turn wet you won’t miss out.

So – put the 17th (and the 24th) of August in your diary, and look out for our upcoming crowdfunding campaign – as your pledge can bring you the rewards you choose from – including souvenir blankets, souvenir DVD, a cosy seat, or tasty hot chocolate brewed to warm the cockles of your art.
