Night Mural 2014 Young Artist EOI

Invitation to young artists in Port Adelaide Enfield Area

May 5, 2014

Opportunity for Young Artists!  Would you like to see your art animated and projected onto a public building…and a bus?

If you are under 26 and live or work or study within the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, this is an exciting opportunity to create a special artwork, which will be animated and projected onto a building and a bus as a public mural in Port Adelaide during illuminart’s Night Mural event in August 2014 during the SALA Festival.

NIGHT MURAL transforms a building with projected animated murals designed by local artists. This year the focus will be on young and emerging artists.

Participants will be required to attend a free training workshop on either Saturday 28 or Sunday 29 June 2014, where you will be given coaching in creating mural art and designs for the animated projected murals.

New Light Industrial NLI

Port Adelaide Community Input into New Light Industrial Projects in 2014

May 5, 2014

Illuminart is working in Port Adelaide to develop tourism and night time economy in the area, as part of their ongoing “New Light Industrial” program of events in the Port which has been supported by Arts SA. Our goal is to bring permanent projection in to the Port, and for people to think of Port Adelaide whenever there is a mention of projection art. (Port Adelaide is a superior location for lighting art due to its minimal light pollution, existing cultural tourism opportunities, accessible spaces and great architecture).

We are very keen to have the input of Port Adelaide business, residents, schools, artists to help us plan and make the most of our next six months in the Port, and find out what you most want us to do.

Below are the proposed projects that we hope to fundraise and present, all with the aim of showcasing beautiful lighting art, architectural projection, and the arts and artists of Port Adelaide. We are keen to know what you think is most important and which events you would like to attend and support.

Photos from Harts Mill Re-animated

May 5, 2014

The area around Hart’s Mill has seen quite a lot of change since 2009, when projection artist Cindi Drennan worked with Port Festival and the Port Adelaide community as an artist in residence. She worked almost entirely solo, initially researching local topics, and later living for two months in a rented cottage in Ethelton creating every scene with tools like Flash and Motion. The resulting projection mapped animation “Harts Mill Inhabited” was a first fully animated son et lumiere (narrative lightshow) mapped to the architecture of Harts Mill.
