THE CULTURAL CONDUIT:
The Cultural Conduit is a regional touring route regularly travelled by Projection artist Cindi Drennan. This route has been established to connect two home communities (Quorn SA and Blue Mountains NSW) via a trading route.
The principal behind the cultural conduit is SLOW TRAVEL. This is the same idea underpinning SLOW FOOD and CITTASLOW, in that a truly holistic and healthy life should experience and savour the full process of production and creation, from the healthiest possible ingredients. Translating this to travel means that travel should not be about getting from A to B, but be able to exchange and contribute to all the points of travel between A and B.
The aim is not to get there quickly but to get there well, and to minimize carbon pollution, stress, and to maximize the benefits of the travel through contribution and exchange to the communities along the way.

WHY CULTURAL CONDUIT?
Along each trip the major stop points are places where I establish connections with the community for information and product exchange, and for the development of the regional touring route for live performance and arts events. I aim to connect these communities and artists with each other directly through projects, and indirectly through promotion of their area and activities.
Rides are offered to artists and travellers interested in travel that engages with communities and allow them to sample what is unique about this region.
WHY REGIONAL?
Australia has an awesome regional community who have a wealth of incredible stories, Indigenous Australian stories, pioneering stories, modern life stories... and the most amazing scenery. In all my travels I have not encountered the like. But often regional communities are more connected to the city than they are to other regions. By linking up among communities we can create cross regional awareness, new forms of business and cultural projects, and opportunities for people who are travelling to see more of what goes on inside a community than just the proscribed tourist activities.
CULTURAL PRODUCE
Every area has cultural products that are unique to that region, sometimes foods and flavours, other times its stories or traditions or particular artists or specialists living there who are a truly unique asset in themselves. If you are interested in finding out more or acquiring a sample contact me.
COURIER
Sometimes the slow road is best for couriering product. Do you have an object or artefact that needs to be taken slowly, or needs to be seen, signed or modified by people along the route.
HITCH A LIFT
Come along for a ride and learn the value of SLOW travel. Interestingly I have recently discovered that the cultural conduit in part follows a travel route that was taken by my ancestors, and it maps the migration of pioneers from Victoria to SA.You may find this route has resonances for you too.
Travel carbon footprint is offset.
